Taiwan elects ‘pro-China’ opposition leader as parliament speaker, no party holds majority

Taipei: Taiwan’s parliament on Thursday elected a former presidential candidate from the opposition Kuomintang (KMT), viewed by the ruling party as pro-China, as its new speaker.
