Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings are a professional American football team based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The team was founded in 1960 as an expansion team and they have been a member of the National Football League (NFL) since then. The Vikings have played their home games at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis since 2016.
The team’s name, “Vikings,” is a reference to the Scandinavian heritage of many Minnesotans, as well as the state’s history of Viking explorers. The team’s original colors were purple, gold, and white, and their helmet featured a Viking horn logo.

The Vikings had early success in their history, making it to the NFL Championship game in their fourth season in 1969, but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs. They reached the Super Bowl four times in 1970, 1974, 1975, and 1977 but lost all four times. The team had a period of success in the late 1970s and early 1980s, led by Hall of Fame quarterback Fran Tarkenton and defensive tackle Alan Page. They made it to the NFC Championship game in 1973, 1974, and 1976, but were unable to advance to the Super Bowl.
In the late 1980s and early 1990s, the team’s fortunes took a downturn, and they missed the playoffs for eight consecutive seasons. The team then hired Dennis Green as head coach in 1992, and he led the team to eight playoff appearances in ten seasons. The team had a period of success under Green, led by quarterback Randall Cunningham and wide receiver Cris Carter, but were unable to advance to the Super Bowl.

Childress was then replaced by Leslie Frazier in 2010, and the team made the playoffs again in 2012.
In 2014, the Vikings hired Mike Zimmer as head coach, and he led the team to the playoffs in 2015 and 2017. The team had a period of success under Zimmer, led by quarterback Kirk Cousins and defensive end Everson Griffen, but they were unable to advance to the Super Bowl.
